Martha Evelyn McCurdy

Martha Evelyn McCurdy, 78, of Athens, died Tuesday morning, March 9, 2010, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a member of Eastanallee Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Lizzie Chester Cronan; one son, Joel D. McCurdy; and one brother, J. L. Cronan.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond McCurdy; three daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Jerry Green of Athens, Brenda and Ken Mashburn of Erwin, and Sandy and Gail Young of Naples, Fla.; one son and daughter-in-law, Bud and Karen McCurdy of Knoxville; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Inez Rains and Mary and Bob Dickey; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William S. and Linda Cronan and Max and Vickie Cronan; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Jenkins and Rev. Michael Roach officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. prior to the service.

Family and friends will assemble at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 11, at New Bethel Cemetery for the burial service.

Pallbearers will be Willy Runion, Phil Harris, Jon Trout, Jeff Rains, Chris Cronan, Morris Cronan and Sherman Cronan Jr.
