James A. Davis Jr.

James A. Davis Jr., 70, of Etowah, died Monday morning, March 8, 2010, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.

A native of Chicago, Ill., he was a resident of Etowah for the past 22 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Arville Davis Sr. and Helen Gagala Davis; a daughter, Ellen Davis; and a sister, Carole Barr.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Evelyn Davis, of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, Jill Nystrom of Cumming, Ga.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jeff and Dawn Davis of New Lenox, Ill., and Jim Davis of Wilmington, Ill.; four grandchildren, Wade Davis, Max Nystrom, Mallory Nystrom and Katie Nystrom; one sister and brother-in-law, Candace and David Love of Camden; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Wayne and May Davis of Lowell, Ind.; one brother-in-law, Gerald Barr of Palos Hills, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at Conasauga Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Thursday at Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah, and then proceed to the cemetery for the service.
